Biography
Jakob Puchmayr was born on February 4th 1993 and grew up in Braunau am Inn.
He received his first musical education in recorder, guitar, piano and voice t the local music school.
At the age of 15 he went to Mozarteum Salzburg, where he was studying the classical guitar preparatory course with Wolfgang Guttmann for 2 years.
That time he also attended masterclasses with world-renowned guitarists, such as Alvaro Pierri, Hubert Käppel, Thomas Kirchhoff, Dale Kavanagh, Dieter Kreidler and Oscar Ghiglia.
After having graduatet from school in 2011 (BG/ BRG Braunau) he spent a year in Kent at the Dorton House School to do a social service abroad.
Since 2012 he has been studying voice pedagogy with Elisabeth Wilke and John Thomasson (at Mozarteum Salzburg). In addition to that he has been studying guitar pedagogy since 2014 with Maria Isabel Siewers.
Since March 2015 he has been working as a guitar teacher at Landesmusikschule Braunau.
At Mozarteum Jakob has been part in many concerts and opera productions, for example Le nozze di Figaro (as Antonio) and L’incoronazione di Poppea (as one of the famigliari). He was also performing as a soloist in “Frauenliebe”, “The rest is silence” and „An versteinerter Schwelle – lyrische Szenen nach Georg Trakl“ (world premiere, by Klemens Vereno).
Besides his performances at Mozarteum he has been singing in many choirs (Salzburger Bachchor, Landestheater Extrachor, Collegium Vocale).
As a concert soloist he was performing in Salzburg, RAdstadt (Paul Hofhaimer Tage) and Ried. His
Repertoire includes coronation mass (Mozart), mass in e-flat (Schubert) and The Armed Man (Karl Jenkins).
He made his opera debut in May 2015 at Theater an der Rott in Eggenfelden. There he was playing the role of the dressmaker in the premiere performance of “Tischlein Deck Dich” by Peter Androsch.
Since 2014 he is performing at SalzburgerAdvent in the church of St. Andrä, as a member of the Salzburg Guitar Trio.
